Tatyana is the Director of Educational Technology at the College Preparatory School, a private high school in Oakland, California.
Since 2009, she has been helping to advance initiatives in education that include: re-envisioning K-12 Computer Science, & STEAM/ Maker Education in both formal & informal settings. She continues to inspire K12 students & teachers to develop problem-solving, systems-thinking, & coding skills - to discover creative solutions.
Tatyana worked in various industries before returning to education. She worked for AstralWerks Records for 8 years as a local rep in various cities. For 8 years she performed & worked as a professional DJ & vocalist in the Phoenix Area & ran a small live sound production company. From 2004-2008, she was a Sound Designer at Rainbow Studios (THQ); and continued to freelance, while attending graduate school at Arizona State University.
While at ASU, Tatyana first earned her M.Ed in Educational Technology & Instructional Design. She then continued in a 2nd graduate program in the School of Arts Media + Engineering (in the K-12 Education Research division) a trans-disciplinary program where over 12 departments collaborated to explore how Technology could improve the human condition in Education, Rehabilitation & Social Media environments. While working on her Media Arts + Science degree, her work was funded by fellowships from NSF IGERT Fellowship, the Science Foundation of AZ Internet & Communications & Technology Fellowship (SFAZ ICT), & Intel. She was on the SMALLab Research Team & the Learning Environments Group. She began to coordinate events & workshops pairing HS students with CS mentors. Much of her time at ASU involved working directly with students in public & private schools, community centers, museums; & as a program coordinator & CS mentor for students (including NSF CompuGirls). She moved to the Bay Area completing her 2nd Master's (MA, Media Arts + Sciences).
In 2012, Tatyana moved to the Bay Area. From 2013-2016, Tatyana was the Tech Integrationist, CS Teacher & a lead Maker STEM Educator at Head-Royce School in Oakland, coordinating innovative programs, classes & events for faculty & students.
