The Basics
One day, while driving to class at her local Community College, Taureanna, also known as Taur, heard a commercial on the radio promoting the local Connecticut School of Broadcasting campus. She wanted to see if it would be something she could do. After all, during her grade school years, she read on the P.A. system a few times and helped co-produce school plays. This was the only media exposure that she had as a youth. While most high school students are being geared to decide their future careers, and even trained, Taur did not have the same opportunity. Her high school did not have a media-based curriculum that she could have focused, so instead, she played the violin for all four years. Playing the violin was something she learned in the fourth grade and it helped her get through her grade school years.
Taur went to the informational session at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Cherry Hill New Jersey, which turned out to be an audition to get into the school. They informed her that she did very well and was accepted into the program. She graduated from the program the following January. Still, Taur felt incomplete.
Taur graduated from Montclair State University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Arts. She took with her a plethora of skills, experience, and talents. During her time at MSU, she assisted with the student ran website Wired Jersey, where she also contributed stories. She interned at NJTV News, where she met the state’s former governors, senators, and congressmen. She also had a chance to interview U.N. Ambassadors Prince Zeid of Jordon, and Ambassador Muhamed Sacirbey, better known as Mo, on human rights issues.
