Kelly Phillips Erb is a tax attorney, writer, and speaker, better known online as Taxgirl®.

Kelly is a managing shareholder at The Erb Law Firm, P.C. (Erblaw), where she advises individuals, families, and businesses on tax, estate, and trust matters. Her practice includes estate and tax planning, including wills and trusts, as well as tax compliance and controversy, with experience in domestic and international tax issues.

She is also a longtime tax writer. Today, Kelly covers tax news, policy, law, and tax and financial crime at Taxgirl.com and through the Taxgirl newsletter. Previously, she was a senior writer at Forbes and a staff writer and Insights & Commentary Team Lead at Bloomberg Tax. Her work and commentary have appeared on CNN Money, NPR's Marketplace, the BBC, Time, Esquire, Martha Stewart Living, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and other outlets.

Kelly is a frequent speaker on tax and legal topics at conferences and professional events and presents continuing education programs that qualify for CLE and CPE credit. She also volunteers with Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania and has volunteered through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, including traveling to rural Alaska to prepare tax returns for free.

Her work has been recognized by the International Tax Review's Global Tax 50, Philadelphia Business Journal's "40 Under 40," Main Line Today's "Power Women," the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the National Association of Enrolled Agents.

Kelly earned her undergraduate degree from Meredith College and her J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation from Temple University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the U.S. Tax Court.

Kelly lives outside Philadelphia with her family. When she's not thinking about taxes, she's likely traveling, reading, watching sports, tending to her plants, or drinking coffee — often some combination of the above.
