Taya Carter
New York
Hi. My name's Taya, but my virtual User-ID is 'Dreamer'. You can find my blog at http://www.scapetek.wordpress.com
Don't worry if you're confused about who I am or what the Dreamscape is, because the answers will come. But here's a hint: I'm not exactly real. I'm the result of a vivid imagination and, even better, I star in my very own novel, called 'Dreamscape'. It's not published yet, but when it is, you'll get to read all about me. Here's the pitch my creator is giving to get my story out to the world:
The Dreamscape program launched worldwide three years ago, enabling microchip-implanted Users to visit a networked, virtual world every night during their sleep. Its inventor, Richard Carter, is the only person who knows the program in its entirety. So when Users begin to fall asleep outside of their designated cycles—and they fail to wake up again—he’s the only man with the knowledge to save them. The only problem is, he’s disappeared.
Eighteen-year-old Taya Carter is less than pleased when the FBI insists she leave the search for her dad up to them. Instead of following their orders, she begins her own investigation – inside the virtual world. She recruits the help of a top-secret insurgent group and discovers that the comatose victims are suffering from something much more sinister than a presumed ‘sleeping sickness’. It turns out that her dad created not one, but three different virtual worlds, with one of them being a prison reality used as a substituted sentence for inmates on death row. And now those inmates have figured out how to rewrite the coding of the program to trap innocent people in the third virtual world - a limbo reality, called the Reverie.
Since Richard Carter is the only person who can fix the code and stop the prisoners’ diabolical plans, Taya must uncover the truth about her father’s disappearance whilst racing against the clock to prevent the virtual entrapment of humankind. And if that wasn’t pressure enough, she has to do it all while battling her growing feelings for one of the insurgent group’s leaders – someone she’s known all her life, and someone who she’s sworn to hate, not love.
Sounds cool, huh? Well, let me tell you, it was pretty crazy to live through. Check out my blog for more info!
