Los Angeles
"If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough." This quote by Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is one that has always inspired me to dream bigger than life, and to motivate others to do the same. Born and raised in the city of Los Angeles, my knack for dreaming big was nurtured, as it is the city of Angels, but also music! Growing up on the west coast I was constantly exposed to live concerts, festivals, and entertainment events, which helped develop my love for entertainment business. While my friends were enjoying what was going on on stage, I was wondering about what was going on behind the stage. How were companies able to create such successful, widespread events? What strategies did they use to ensure event and/or artist success? What platforms did they seek to quickly spread word of these events? And how are they able to generate 6 figure revenues? These are the types of questions I was always left asking myself after attending and enjoying these showcases and concerts. Confused as to what I would call my passion, it was not until my college years that I discovered the answers to my questions were encompassed in the profession known as Business Marketing. Upon attending Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, my passion continued to thrive on the other side of the country, as my professional experience grew on the east coast. As a 2013 Marketing intern for American recording label Epic Records, I gained experience in implementing campaign strategies and marketing techniques, and assisting with administrative affairs (i.e. business proposals, artist contracts). This professional opportunity introduced me to the fundamentals of entertainment business and to the culture of Business Marketing. In pursuit of my professional aspirations, I aspire to inspire others every single day. In the words of many music philanthropic professionals, "music can change the world because it can change people", and through my work I choose to change the world.
