Taylor Emmons

Fairy tales were not my escape from reality as a child; rather, they were my reality-for mine was a world in which good and evil were not abstract concepts, and like fairy-tale heroines, no magic would save me unless I had the wit and heart and courage to use it widely-Terri Windling

There was a girl named Taylor Brooks Emmons. She was a beautiful little princess that had long black hair and hazel eyes. She was born on November 23rd into a family that was crazy about her; they loved her more with every breath that they took. Her humble abode was in a little town called Grayson in the wonderful state of Georgia. Taylor dreamed of one day going to UGA and becoming a scientist as a young girl. She decided to do whatever it took to reach her goals, and no just was not going to be an option.

She learned how to be flexible and be able to be thrown into any situation that came in her path. However, the next year an obstacle came in her way that Taylor was not able to handle very well; her dad was diagnosed with Diabetes and her family was having financial issues. On many occasions Taylor had to make sacrifices for her family and trusted that God would provide. She continued on with her plan and strived to be the best she could be in spite of the dreary outlook.

Upon her last year in high school, it seemed that everything was going well for Taylor. She won many awards for athletics, academics, and being a role model. She was captain of the volleyball team and swim team. Everything was going well for Taylor and everything was going in the direction of her dreams. She always believed in fairy tales but never believed that they truly existed.

On November 18th, 2011, all of her hard work had payed off. As she opened eagerly the website that contained the answers to her future, she prayed to God above that it would be in her best interests. As the screen came up on the computer, Taylor saw little fireworks going off on the page and a huge congratulations sign. A swarm of relief rushed over her and she couldn't be happier.

Her journey to the University of Georgia was now complete and now it was off to bigger and greater things that she could never imagine as a young girl. She was abundantly excited to be at the greatest school in the nation. Although she was ready for anything, she had only one thing standing in her way that she had not anticipated, English 1102.

This is the tale of how she overcame English 1102...
