"Knowledge is light and love and vision" - Helen Keller
Taylor Veasley is a Political Science major and an International Economics and Africana Studies double minor at Vassar College, who also has a strong interest in business. She has a passion for baking, reading, off-key singing, music snobbery, watching corny romantic comedies, arduous debates on politics, and traveling. Her hobbies and talents include playing the piano and guitar, writing poetry, baking, asking "why?", and being incredibly witty and sarcastic (to her father's chagrin). Taylor has a strong background in studies, and intends to pursue a career that highlights her love for world culture, foreign policy, and international business.
Taylor Veasley is currently an intern at United Health Care within the Medicare and Retirement division, specifically in Marketing and Administration. Through this internship she hopes to gain knowledge about the way that the politics of the extremely complex and profitable health sector affects urban citizens. Her extensive academic and extra-curricular background includes, but is not limited to: Leadership in the Business World program at UPenn's Wharton School of Business, interning at Intercultural Children and Family Services, serving as the Global Youth Day Chairperson and Political Researcher for the non-profit organization, Phresh Philly, and baking the world's best lemon sour cream pound cake (well, the world has never voted on it, but her Mom has)
She has won multiple awards and scholarships including: the Horatio Alger award (Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey, Condoleezza Rice, and Ronald Reagan have won this award. She would like to add that she is the obviously the far more qualified recipient), the National Coalition of 100 Black Women scholarship, the NAACP Herbert Lehman Scholarship, and the Alexander Hamilton Friends Association Award.
Through all of these accomplishments and accolades Taylor Veasley attributes her success to many things, but most of all; her family's unwavering and immeasurable love and support, her own ambition and relentlessness and God.
