Taylor Warwick

Athens, Ga.

My name is Taylor Warwick and I am a student and cheerleader at the University of Georgia. I chose to attend UGA because I have loved it all my life. While growing up, Athens always held a special place in my heart. Both of my parents attended UGA and instilled a great love of it in me. When I was younger they took me to every home football game. My memories of the atmosphere within Sanford Stadium are hard to compare. I later came to find that there were few things I loved more than cheering on the Dawgs.
I grew up in Roswell, Georgia a short hour and a half away from my new home. As a child I participated in gymnastics and dance for many years, but in middle school I decided it was time for a change. I wanted to be involved in a true team sport. So, I started cheerleading, and soon after I fell in love with it. At first, I chose to just cheer for my middle school football team, but the next year I decided to take on a bigger commitment. I cheered for my middle school team and an all-star gym. Cheerleading gave me the best of everything. I loved to dance, tumble, and stunt, and it allowed me to do all three.
Throughout high school I continued cheerleading. As I grew older it became more than just a sport. It became part of my life. By this time I cheered for my high school’s football and basketball teams and at an all-star gym. I grew more and more dedicated to the sport each day. Cheerleading also became an outlet for my hectic outside life. Whenever I felt stressed with school or friends I would go to the gym. Being at the gym provided me a great sense of peace. For me, it was a safe haven from the outside world. Senior year I was devastated to imagine my cheerleading career coming to an end. I needed it. It defined who I was. I was not yet ready to let go of my life passion. So, I decided to try out for UGA’s team. As a child I had only dreamed of it, but I it was within my grasp. After all the hard work I put into improving my skills I knew cheering on the Dawgs could be more than just a dream.
Finally, on April 19, 2013 my dream came true. I had tried out and made The University of Georgia’s cheerleading team. There was no greater feeling in the world! The first football game I cheered was a home game against The University of South Carolina. It was the most amazing four hours of my entire life. I will never be able to explain the intense feeling of pride I have every time I put on the Georgia uniform. This year I have been abl
