Tim Peters
Emeryville, California
I've been writing professionally since graduating from MIT in 1981, handling all kinds of projects, from annual reports to speeches, from bylined articles to web copy, for clients in financial services, biotechnology, software, and consumer products.
Good, readable prose is just the first bar for successful corporate writing, which must also serve a more strategic purpose. This requires developing conceptual frameworks for projects (often in conjunction with designers) and understanding positioning.
I also teach writing through Cal Berkeley's Extension Program; my current course is "Writing for Social Media"; it's designed to help students write for the web with purpose and power.
I have also written under my own byline: hundreds of book reviews (primarily literary fiction and mysteries) and numerous author profiles for Publishers Weekly. I also am regular contributor to one of the leading poker magazines, Card Player.
