Genevieve Geddes
I, Genevieve Geddes, am a Student Teacher, and I am currently completing my third year of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. I have completed majoring in Physical Sciences and Natural sciences. At the end of November 2015 I will have completed my major in Life Sciences. I am passionate about teaching, nature, animals and sustaining the environment. I am determined to develop the minds of young learners to become more positive about science.
Amongst other modules I am a Life Sciences Tutor, employed by the University of Johannesburg. I am part of the Golden Key International Honour Society as well as the Ujenius club of the University of Johannesburg for outstanding academic achievement. I enjoy being in nature, spending time with animals
and learning new things about nature and teaching on a daily basis. My ultimate goal is to become a “Super Teacher” which can influence any learner’s life in a positive manner, by helping them improve their own values and skills or just showing them the wonderful and magnificent world that science has given us.
One of the manners in which I can become a Super Teacher is by investing time into developing my Personal and Professional learning network (PLN). This network will allow me to to connect with various people in the teaching, biology and scientific community who can assist me in improving either my content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, creating job opportunities etc… This network will also bridge the gap between the theory and the practice which I will be stepping into after my Degree is obtained.
