Exposed to music at a young age, I was able to participate in singing contests and choir competitions. This was how my mom introduced music to my life. Stepping into UST as a senior high school student was a huge culture shock as I was living miles away from my hometown. Despite being in a humanities and social sciences strand, I used music as an escape from my academics. This was a turning point in my life as it triggered something I had never encountered before. I decided to pursue music as my career and follow in the footsteps of my mother.

I applied to the Conservatory of Music, taking up Bachelor of Music, Major in Music Education, Emphasis on Voice. It was the same program my mother took when she was in college. We both share the same love for teaching music and inspiring others to also take up music. We express our music and creativity through teaching, may it be in the four corners of the classroom or on stage.

To expose myself more to the music industry, I participated in some jobs that could hone my skills as a music educator. I became a junior music researcher in MusikaPilipinas for a brief period, contributing work and effort to the team I was assigned to. I also applied as a Voice Teacher in a music school, having many opportunities to teach young kids how to sing and learn voice techniques.

I enjoy teaching kids and playing with them. After graduating, one of the business plans I have is to make my own music school. My goal here is to invite children of any age to take up music and hone their musical skills. This would also give them opportunities to showcase their talents and expand their creativity. My music school would mostly cater to young children, but there is not any limit to age as adults can also enroll in the school. This business plan would also open jobs for fresh music education graduates who would want to teach immediately.

I hope that my passion and determination for music education will also inspire and influence future musicians to appreciate teaching music. Behind every great musician is a great music teacher who believed in them. Let us appreciate our music educators who paved our way to our dreams.
