Most people would describe me as ecclectic.
I have a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania. My specialties are historical archaeology and zooarchaeology, meaning the archaeology of the modern world (1400AD to the present) and the archaeology of animal bones. My dissertation focused on food in Philadelphia ca. 1750-1850. I am intrigued by the connections between food and identity and am interested in food in all times and places.
I am currently emoloyed as a zooarchaeologist for URS Corporation, in their Burlington, NJ office, though I work out of a lab located in the Penn Museum in Philadelphia.
I am also a yoga instructor. I have been practicing yoga since 2006 and teaching since spring 2007. I have training in power, vinyasa, and anusara yoga. I teach both classes and private lessons.
I am also a dancer. I have been dancing since the age of 3 and am currently focusing my energies on salsa dancing. I am a professional salsa dancer with the Estilo Dancers. We travel around the country performing and teaching workshops.
I also love to cook, especially for others. I attended Le Cordon Bleu Paris in the spring of 2012 for their Basic Cuisine course and finished first in my class. I now have a solid foundation in traditional French cuisine and culinary technique. With these skills I occasionally cook for small private events.
