Retired in Temecula, California

I grew up in Glendale, California and spent my CHILDHOOD singing and ringing bells in various church choirs, being a Camp Fire Girl and going skiing with my family.

I spent my TEENAGE years trying to be invisible. When we moved to Huntington Beach I found the nerve to join the drama group in high school and wanted to be the next Carol Burnett. Which influenced my decision to go the UCLA where I majored in theatre.

My TWENTIES were spent hiding behind office temp jobs and going to The Carol Burnett Show tapings at CBS until I got some courage to do summer stock at the Barn Theatre in Augusta, Michigan.

In my THIRTIES, with Equity Card in hand, I moved to New York City. I took acting classes, dance and voice lessons, but accidentally fell into a computer career working my survival job at the lawfirm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges. And most fortunately, I found my husband in acting class.

The FORTIES brought about my move back to California as I transferred with the lawfirm to be the IT Manager of their Silicon Valley Office. BTW, I gave up acting. It no longer interested me.

FIFTY? How did that happen? Now we find ourselves back in Southern California. I ended up working for Esquire Innovations, a software company that creates software for lawfirms. (Esquire is now BigHand.) The mother-in-law has been living with us since 2009. I miss the Bay Area and privacy!

OMG, I made it to my SIXTIES and RETIREMENT! Starting to lose too many friends and family. Yet the mother-in-law at 103 is setting records.

The SEVENTIES are here, yay? What shall we call this decade? The Sarcopenia Decade, the “where did that pain come from decade” or “what’s happening to my skin!” Yet they say don’t complain, growing old is a privilege denied to many.
