Teddy Nee, BSc., MBA.
author, engineer, and polyglot in Taiwan
I am an Overseas Chinese of Hokkien ancestry from Medan City in Indonesia. I enjoy learning languages and reading in multiple languages to gain information from different perspectives. My native languages are Medan Hokkien and Indonesian. I received higher education in English, and English has been my daily language nowadays. I also understand the Malay language because of its similarity with the Indonesian language. I can converse in Chinese Mandarin, Spanish, Esperanto, Portuguese, and French. I can converse in basic Toki Pona, Tok Pisin, and Haitian Creole. Besides using all of those languages every day, I also read in Italian, Afrikaans, and Dutch. My language goal this year is to learn useful Southeast Asian languages in Taiwan, such as Vietnamese, Tagalog, and Thai.

Achievements
- Independent system development: During my time as an IT engineer, I had the opportunity to develop systems independently due to the imbalance between workload and manpower. Despite the numerous difficulties, I accomplished the task and left a valuable legacy for the company.
- Co-organized Taiwan’s Esperanto Day 2017 event in Taoyuan: I successfully booked the venue in Taoyuan and collaborated with the Taiwan Esperanto Association in Pingtung to arrange for members to travel from Pingtung to Taoyuan to participate in the event. Our community also attracted the attention of the Taipei Times, which published several articles about the Taiwan Esperanto community.
- Ranked 12th in Indonesia’s National English Competition (2004/08/2~2004/10/30): I had the opportunity to participate in this competition when I was in secondary school. The competition was open to students at different educational levels and aimed to support the government's education plan.
