Roger Dupuy

teacher trainer in Irvine, California

Holding an M.A. in Linguistics, I have been teaching ESL / Teacher-Training full-time for over twenty-three years at the university.

I have a passion for the arts, curriculum design, content delivery, game design, and emerging technologies.

I have taught English and teacher-training in eight countries around the world. Most recently, I have delivered workshops for JALT 2014 in Japan and Kunkook University, Cheonan Board of education and KOTESOL in 2011-13 in South Korea.

I have done extensive consulting and language coaching for business and education programs. I also had the honor to be an English tutor and consultant to Lee, Kyung Kyu, a Korean actor and comedian.

I am an author of two teacher-training books, "Using iPads and Apps in the Classroom" for the K-2 and 3-6 grade audience. I have also published a chapter on how role-playing gaming principles can inform language teaching in the book entitled: "Language Teaching Insights from Other Fields" for TESOL Press.

Currently, I am responsible for curriculum design, teaching and coordination of UC Irvine Division of Continuing Education's teacher-training programs with specific topics including: English language teacher training (ESL/EFL), English-mediated Instruction (EMI), and Educational technology training.

I received the 2004 UCI Extension Distinguished Instructor Award.

I enjoy writing, photography, film, music, travel and games (table-top and digital).
