Teja Peltomaa is a Toronto, Ontario-based university student who is pursuing a bachelor's in social work at Ryerson University with an expected graduation date of 2023. Interested in working with youth upon graduating, Teja Peltomaa started volunteering as a crisis text line responder with Kids Help Phone in 2019. In this capacity, she communicates via text with children of varying ages who are feeling emotionally distressed.

In addition to Kids Help Phone, Ms. Peltomaa has prior volunteer experience with several businesses and nonprofits in the Toronto area, including the Salvation Army in Oakville. In 2017 she helped sort and tag clothes at its thrift store location and was a bell ringer at one of its fundraisers the year prior. She has also volunteered at the Daily Bread and Oakville Fareshare food banks.

Beyond volunteering, Teja Peltomaa has worked as a babysitter since 2017. She strives to keep children safe and nurture their development via emotional engagement and kid-friendly activities. In addition to supporting youth, she is passionate about issues relating to feminism, economic inequality, and racism.
