Terence Fitzgerald
As the founder, CEO, and Director of the Center for Occupational Rehabilitation (COR), Terence Fitzgerald, PhD, is based in Asheville, North Carolina. Since 1993, Dr. Terence Fitzgerald has overseen the day-to-day activities of the comprehensive rehabilitation practice. Assisting patients with on-the-job injuries, the dedicated team of professionals at the Center for Occupational Rehabilitation concentrates on assisting patients through evidence-based medicine. Dr. Terence Fitzgerald also treats patients at his private practice, Carolina Health Psychology.
Since 2002, Dr. Fitzgerald has focused on treating individuals seeking certification for “fitness for duty” and other situations requiring an independent medical examination (IME). He also provides treatment for injured workers with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). The condition is common among those recovering from a traumatic on-the-job injuries. A postdoctoral fellow in behavioral medicine and occupational rehabilitation, Dr. Terence Fitzgerald completed additional training at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Fitzgerald is board certified in clinical health psychology with the American Board of Professional Psychology. He leads a compassionate team that includes a physician board certified in occupational medicine and a physical therapist specializing in chronic painful spinal injuries, as well as sacroiliac and mechanical dysfunction.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Terence Fitzgerald has contributed numerous articles to peer-reviewed publications. A noted lecturer, Dr. Fitzgerald has also spoken on patient selection for invasive palliative procedures for refractory chronic pain syndromes, occupational rehabilitation, and risk factors for pain-related work disability. A respected professional, he possesses a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. Outside of his professional pursuits, he enjoys exploring the beauty of Asheville, North Carolina, on horseback.
