Musician in New York
The 2013-14 season marks Teresa’s sixth season as the Music Director and Conductor of the Altoona Symphony Orchestra. Much to the delight of the organization, musicians and patrons, Teresa has recently accepted a 3-year contract commitment with the Altoona Symphony, beginning this fall. A recipient of the JoAnn Falletta Conducting Award for the most promising female conductors, Teresa is equally at home with both orchestral and operatic/vocal genres. She was Resident Conductor for the American Symphony Orchestra in New York City, as well as Assistant Conductor for the Bard Music Festival for eight seasons. In 2012, Teresa made her conducting debut with the New York City Ballet in their Balanchine Nutcracker production. Frequent guest conducting has led her to many other symphony orchestras across the nation.
Teresa has made it her mission to bring an awareness of the importance of creating an ‘artistic legacy’ through music for the greater Altoona area. She strives to bring forth inventive concert performances, collaborative projects and outreach programs to our extensive audiences and is a passionate advocate for music education at all ages. Since the beginning of her tenure with the Altoona Symphony, numerous programs have been created to engage area children and young adults, including the Altoona Symphony Apprentice Program (A. S. A. P. ). To see Teresa’s full bio please click on the following link.
