Terry Allen Perl
Terry Allen Perl remains committed to assisting people with disabilities since retiring from a 40-year career at Baltimore-based Chimes International Ltd., which culminated in his position as CEO and President of the nonprofit. Serving as Vice Chair on the Board of Handmaker Jewish Services for the Aging in Tucson, Mr. Perl lends his extensive experience to Southern Arizona's only nonprofit continuing care community for the elderly. Mr. Perl also serves as a Fellow of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and remains a popular speaker on nonprofit management and development.
During his impressive career, Terry Allen Perl garnered continued recognition for his work aiding people who are underserved. He was honored in the Congressional Record, achieved a place in the East Coast publication SmartCEO’s list of the top 100 CEOs in Maryland, was selected as an Innovator of the Year, and was elected into the Chimes Hall of Fame. After his retirement from Chimes, Mr. Perl was named President Emeritus of Chimes International in 2011.
A widely recognized leader in field of disability services and the wider nonprofit sector, Terry Allen Perl achieved significant accomplishments while serving as CEO and President of Chimes for over three decades. Creating janitorial contracts with the United States government and the State of Maryland that employed thousands of people with disabilities, Mr. Perl led the organization to provide services for nearly 18,000 children, adults, and seniors with disabilities and oversaw mergers and acquisitions that extended the organization’s work in the United States and in Israel. Over the course of his career, he has been frequently sought to speak on the topics of nonprofit disability services, and he has served as a board member for a number of organizations and commissions. Terry Allen Perl formerly sat on the Board of Trustees for the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities International, the Board of Directors for Maryland Works, Inc., and Chairman for Baltimore City’s Directorate of Mental Retardation.
Active in his community even in retirement, Terry Allen Perl lives with his wife, Martha, in Tucson, Arizona.
