Bio: I live in Orange County, California and I currently work as an I.T. Engineer.
Professional: I have been in the technology field for 20 years. As an I.T. Engineer, I am proficient in many areas of Technology including planning, deployment, integration, and upgrades.
I hold certifications for DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Informix, Red Hat, Solaris, PeopleSoft, Network +, AWS, and Network Security. Although certifications provide a great foundation, most of my skills have been acquired from hands-on experience - particularly in databases, operating systems, networking, cloud computing, and enterprise security.
A thorough understanding of the entire process flow from beginning to end has allowed me to excel in areas such as troubleshooting, performance tuning, and project management. As a result, I have been able to manage many of my own projects. I have also worked extensively on appliation upgrades, design, disaster recovery, and most recently security and forensics.
Global: One of life's greatest pleasures comes from traveling - especially traveling abroad. Traveling always teaches me something new and exciting - regardless of my destination. To experience and fully appreciate our world is something that cannot be taught but rather must be experienced in order to be fully appreciated. I have met (and continue to meet) some amazing people - each with their own unique and wonderful experiences, cultures, and of course food!
Personal: In my free time I enjoy continuing my education and learning new things. Keep the brain working! I believe it is important to stay current and proficient with today's technology. I also enjoy communicating with other professionals on different user groups and blogs. Recently, I formed a small volunteer group of fellow I.T. professionals that assist older generations and senior citizens with today's technology. This has been a lot of fun!
I enjoy all types of exercise, especially outdoor activities such as bike riding, running, and hiking. I also enjoy reading – especially mysteries. But the greatest pleasure in life comes from time spent with friends and family.
