For 20+ years I have been a strategy minded and results-producing international sales and marketing professional. 10 of those 20 years as an expatriate in Hong Kong and Singapore.
This expatriate experience helped me learn how to build successful teams. In Singapore I had to turn around a bankrupt company. This was pre-Internet days in Asia, so market research was performed old school - by legwork. The knowledge I gained from researching developing countries such as Thailand, India, Bangladesh, and Philippines caused me to appreciate solid market planning BEFORE entering a new market.
When I left Singapore the company was finally in the black with 3 additional offices in Jakarta, Bangkok, and Dhaka. Our region had expanded to include South Asia and Southeast Asia. Our clients were from North America, Europe, and Asia. Success required a great team and a lot of hard work, but it was fun!
