Tessa Bailey
Recruiter and Student in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
I am from the Teslin Tlingit First Nation in the Yukon.
I attend the University of Calgary where I completed a BSc in Applied Mathematics and a BSc in Anthropology. While finishing my undergrad, I worked at the Native Centre where I travelled across Canada and taught leadership to Aboriginal Youth with the intention of inspiring them to pursue a post secondary school. In everything that I do, I bring my traditional values with me.
Currently, I am the Aboriginal Student Recruitment Officer for the University of Calgary. I travel across Canada and continue to carry the message on the importance of post-secondary education to Aboriginal youth.
I love to dance and I perform at different events across Calgary. On weekends I enjoy cooking with with my cat Chief Walking Whiskers and having tea with my close friends and neighbours.
Even though I currently reside in Calgary, I still consider the Yukon home and return several times a year to spend time with my family.
