Stellate Ganglion Block
The Stellate Ganglion Block is an advanced pain management procedure used to combat head, neck, and shoulder pain. The Stellate Ganglion is a group of nerves that run from the mid-spine to the shoulder area. In this procedure a surgeon injects a dye as well as anesthetics into the stellate ganglion to ensure that all nerves have been treated. Once all nerves have been coated with the anesthetics the pain should start to subside. Patients are likely to come out of the procedure instantly feeling relief from the afflicted area(s).
