The Texas State Troopers Association, based in Austin, Texas, is a voluntary labor organization comprised of non-supervisory commissioned officers and retirees of the Texas Department of Safety (DPS). The Texas State Troopers Association has been active in dozens of events throughout the state and beyond. The organization believes in the power of community and collaboration, and in strengthening our community. The Texas State Troopers Association does their part by organizing memorial services, planning banquets and cookouts and more, which provides relief, recognition, and morale boosts for those that dedicate their lives to serving our community.
The Texas State Troopers Association personally supports troopers by lobbying state legislature to push for more rights and better benefits for them and their families. The association also provides financial or personal assistance to troopers in Texas that are in need. The Texas State Troopers Association sponsors local nonprofit agencies and volunteers time and efforts into local events.
Since 1984, the Texas State Troopers Association has supported initiatives held by organizations such as 100 Club of Central Texas and and the Texas Department of Public Safety Quarter Century Club.
The Texas State Troopers Association provides its members with benefits such as accidental death and dismemberment insurance, legal counsel and representation while on duty as law enforcement officers, free preparation of last will and testament. We serve as advocates for our members at state legislature and will respond in times of need to our members who experience extraordinary hardships. Membership is available for all first-line members of Texas' Department of Public Safety (DPS), both current and retired.
The association is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation organized under section 501(c)(5) of the Internal Revenue Code, and it relies on charitable contributions to reach its goals of serving those who serve in the DPS.
Our membership, which consists of current or former first-line commissioned members of the Department of Public Safety, has fostered a stronger sense of unity and representation among state troopers.
