Texx Smith
Web Developer, Project Manager, and Father in Somewhere in the ether of the internet!
The Beginnings:
Raised by a military family, I lived in several different places growing up, Ohio, Illinois, New Hampshire, Michigan, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, etc. In Texas the other kids I played video games with would make fun of each other when we screwed up. They used to say “Nice shootin Texx!” when I screwed up. Thus my nick-name was born. My real name being James (one the most common names in the country), I found a nick name to be pleasant but not very useful until I began freelancing.
I learned a great deal about people. I've had the pleasure of knowing people from all walks of life. They are all different but they have several similarities.
In the first half of my professional life I worked my way from dishwasher to Sous Chef (a Chef’s favored cook and Operations Manager so to speak). Then 9-11 happened. I had gotten my first computer (and my first two children) by then and had already created a couple websites. Here in Florida the restaurant industry was devastated. Within a few months restaurants were closing left and right. Within 6 months I found myself homeless, literally fighting over food and work.
Modern History:
Then someone offered me money ($300!) to make a website for their business. The web site ended up being a big success for that business. Someone else offered me money to make a website and it was also a big success. They told some people, and some of them wanted websites. The websites brought success to each of these clients. Some of them wanted to expand this with internet marketing services. Others gained large contracts with government entities and large corporations. They needed data services to fulfill these new contracts, receive leads etc. It was in this capacity where someone who had studied Albert Einstein and recognized many of the qualities as him in me.
I have been lured away from freelancing occasionally. I've had some jobs doing upscale web design, volume web design and internet marketing. I've managed and /or created web design departments, Databases, data flow schemas and global internet marketing campaigns for companies international, local and in between.
The Now:
Lately I’ve pioneered the “Responsive Design” movement. This is a method of Web Design that creates one layout that adapts to any size screen on any device instead of having multiple layouts for different de
