My name is Tina Gladney, I was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in Greenville, North Carolina. I was adopted and was given to the most wonderful mother; I couldn't have been more blessed to have her in my life! Very recently, she passed away; but she lived a very long life of 92 years! She has taught me well through her wisdom and knowledge of how to be strong and independent. She has taught me many life lessons, but the one that sticks out to me the most is that she always told me to have a mind of my own.

Everyday I always challenge myself to do better it takes a strong mind to do so. I would say that I am a quiet hero, one whose actions are much louder than words. I believe in walking the walk and using less talk. As a result of that motto, I’m walking on the path towards my dreams. I’m currently a senior and Spanish studies major at North Carolina Central University and I’ll be graduating summer of 2016.

After graduation, I’ll be finishing my second degree in education so that I’ll be able to teach the Spanish language. With teaching, I want to empower all children despite their backgrounds to help them broaden their horizons, reach their potential and live greatness. Education sharpens one’s mind so that one can make wise choices in life. Furthermore, it helps you to stay focus on your living out your dreams!

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure." ~Marianne Williamson~
