I am a 21 year old graduate from the Isle of Man who’s passion for writing/expression and the odd bit of philosophising has lead me to a degree in English Language with Philosophy, yet who’s desire for journalism and travel has brought me to a Starbucks in Zhuzhou China, preparing to teach young children English, and start the blog I’ve wanted to create for so long. After an intense final year at university, where my Starkie family gave me every doubt possible that philosophy was a worthwhile part of my degree, and my best friends ripped, yet praised me for every mistake and hashy decision I ever made, I find myself here 8621 miles from home, and certain of only two things, 1-that I am spending far too much time in starbucks. And 2- that I have the drive and motivation that I hope will place me where I’m meant to be as i take on this daunting 'transition' from student to 'adult', a transition that my dad sympathises so well with when he sniggers… ’welcome to the real world’. The philosophical part of me is also itching to add that this journey to China came about because I believe meeting people from all different walks of life will help shape my future 'self', and will provide me with choices that can only benefit me as a person and who I choose to become. However i won't bore anyone with this too much, and so ill add nothing more than that I’ve met a lovely starbucks employee named Rebecca who im sure has no idea just how many vanilla frappuccinos she will be making within the next 4 weeks, free wifi is a godsend…enjoy! http://starbuckslurker.wordpress.com/
