My name is Keon Benton and I am from Elizabeth, NJ. I attended Elizabeth High School where I graduated in 2006. I lost my oldest brother in the summer of 2006. His death took a major toll on my life, but I knew he would've wanted me to make the best of my life. I attended American International College (AIC) in September 2006 and graduated in May 2010 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Communications. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to study during my first two years at AIC. One day my roommate came in with a camcorder and asked me to help him with his project. Who would have known that experience would help sparked my interest in film? I changed my major from Undecided to Communications and hit the ground running. Classes such as Video Productions I and II, and Screen Writing began to fill my schedule. In my Screen Writing class, the class was instructed to write a script. I found myself working harder and harder and the ideas just began to flow. This class solidified my direction in the film industry...I wanted to be a Screenwriter. My urge to write only increased, even after graduation. I began to think of all possibilities and people I would hand my script to. I searched endlessly for Film programs that would allow me to be me and grow at the same time. Schools in New York were an option, but I wanted something different. I never imagined being hundreds of miles away from home but something about Full Sail University in Florida caught my attention. Relying on my inspirations and all my idols who once said, "You can do anything in the world, just put your mind to it," I sent for more information. I attended Full Sail University for a few months and excelled in all of my classes. Due to the economic hardship, I struggled financially. I began to work full-time in my hometown and had to put my career on hold. Now I am currently working, and plan on attending New York University in September 2012.
