Faith Thackston
Hi, my name is Faith Thackston and I am a junior at Frostburg State University. I am majoring in Early Childhood Development/Elementary Education, and I am currently trying to double major in Wildlife. I am in Phase 1 of the education program and I will be having my first college internship at FSU.
I was born in Washington State but I was raised in El Paso, Texas for the majority of my life. In high school I was involved with track, cross country, and TAFE, which stands for Texas Association of Future Educations. Being apart of TAFE gave tme the opportunity to have a six week internship with a 1st grade class and another six week internship with a 6th grade class. Having the opportunity to do these internships confirmed my beliefs that teaching is exactly where I want to be. I am currently involved in Burg Peer Education, Alpha Sigma Alpha, and Cross Country at FSU. When I'm not constantly running around or doing homework, you can find me in my room putting together jig saw puzzles or out in the field playing with my dog. After I get my Bachelors degree in education I do not plan on gettin my Masters degree right away. Instead I want to go into the peace corp and help teach children that are not fortunate enough to have a teacher or even a school. After the peace corp I want to work in the DoD and teach American students overseas.
My all-time favorite quote is, "when your legs get tired, let your heart do the rest." I constantly have these words running through my mind whenever I am out on a run trying to beat my times or increase my mileage. It helps me get through the tough parts of running and it increases my passion for the sport.
