If it is not helping her first years or helping students apply to university, Thandeka assumes the role of being a 3rd year student in Education majoring in English and history with a strong interest in African literature. She is currently pursuing a career as a pedagogical practitioner in the realm of English. Her philosophy of teaching is that all learners are unique and thus require adaptable teaching approaches to cater to their needs. She believes in ensuring that learners critically engage with the material and feel safe to ask questions. She has a philanthropic spirit and has been involved in community engagement at the University of Johannesburg. She has also served as the head academic advisor at the University of Johannesburg’s Magnolia Ladies Residence since January 2023.As the Head Academic Advisor for first-year students. she finds fulfillment in guiding and mentoring the next generation through their academic journey, ensuring their success and growth. At the moment, her favorite novel isAfter Tearsby Niq Mhlongo. Some key historical events she studies include Pre-Colonial African societies, which include Mapunbugwe, and the Malian Empire. She is a multi-talented individual with a passion for photography and design, particularly focusing on African attire. Whether it's advising students, capturing moments through photography, or unleashing creative flair in the world of design and art, Thandeka lives a life driven by a genuine passion for both learning and creativity.
