In each engagement, he believes corporate business goals transcend the dollar amount at stake.

Thane’s experience includes lead trial counsel, lead partner on patent portfolio transactions, and lead counsel in inter partes reviews. He has testified at trial as an expert witness in patent law. Through his portfolio-related engagements, he has secured IP business opportunities exceeding $500 million. Regardless of the amount at stake, Thane encourages favorable dispute resolution through early case assessment and settlement negotiations.

While meeting his clients’ legal needs, Thane founded a regional office of a global law firm and served as its managing partner for four years. He was a member of the IP Advisory Board of The George Washington University School of Law. He has been an invited guest lecturer at numerous international IP research institutions. He was a law clerk at the Federal Circuit and was a post-graduate student at Max Planck Institute in Munich Germany. His diverse work experience readily lends itself to clients seeking to optimize their IP strategies through the best possible utilization of outside counsel.

Outside of the office, Thane enjoys fishing for Steelhead on the Rogue River in Oregon and an occasional golf game.
