I'm a happy guy, energetic, interested in just about everything, a xenophile, and the world's coolest dad. I eat slow and drive fast. I feel that life is too short for comfort and safety. I also believe that no matter how much you accomplish (or earn) in life, you only have a 1/100,000,000 chance of making it into the history books, so whatever you do, you'd damn well better enjoy yourself.
For my job, I make things. Things that aren't very critical to survival–in fact, things that don't matter a bit unless all your survival needs are already met, and you have the luxury of a computer, and money, and time to spend it, and an Internet connection. Mostly, I make websites. I also make solar panels. That's because apparently I wasn't busy enough with my primary venture.
Web is a pretty cool line of work, because with a few tools (and the amazing, preexisting infrastructure of the Internet I did almost nothing to create), you can craft something truly compelling out of thin air. The medium knows few limits, those limits are disappearing by the day, and the only real barriers to entry are lack of knowledge, and a crappy computer.
My approach to the practical creativity by which I subsist is very hands-on, and very much an experience. I've found that making everything as good as I can is the only way to keep myself engaged long enough to make anything at all. I like money, but it doesn't motivate me nearly as well as having something interesting to do.
