2J Harmonix is a rapper known for his thought provoking lyricism and clever wordplay. Born in Pretoria, the city dubbed Capcity Rapcity for its abundance in skillful emcees, the wheelchair bound rapper moved up the lyrical food chain with his hard hitting metaphors and brow raising statements. Diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) at the age of 2, he was faced with the greatest hurdle he would ever have to overcome... self acceptance. Being an introvert without friends, he began to jot down his emotions in the form of aggressively charged rap lyrics and poetry in order to let go of his negative views on life. His outlet became his passion, which eventually caused him to break out of his shell and publicly express himself at poetry sessions and corner ciphers. Today his music bares a more positive message, highlighting the bittersweet nature of a disabled artist and the human instinct to overcome adversity. "I'm unstoppable," is a tagline many would hear him say, and his goal is that the world would hear his story and be motivated to never give up.
