The Creature
I was created by Victor Frankenstein, he brought me into this world and then abandoned me, "from that moment [I] declared everlasting war against the species, and more than all, against [Frankenstein] who had formed [me] and sent [me] forth to this insupportable misery(Chapter 16)." I am eight feet tall, enormously strong and have the mind of a newborn. I have seeked revenge on my creator by murdering his younger brother, best friend and wife. "A frightful selfishness hurried me on, while my heart was poisoned with remorse(Ch.24)." Despite these events I am sensitive and saved a young girl from drowning just to be rewarded with beatings and disgust due to my appearance. "I am content to suffer alone while my suffering shall endure(Ch. 24)." I have tried to reach out to humans only to be shot down. I observed a family for quite some time but once I worked up enough courage to approach the blind man his family returned and chased me out. "When I looked around I saw and heard of none like me. Was I, the, a monster, a blot upon the earth from which all men fled and whom all men disowned?(Chapter 13)." All I wanted was a companion, even I deserve some company. "I am alone and miserable: man will not associate with me; but one as deformed and horrible as myself would not deny herself to me. My companion must be of the same species and have the same defects. This being you must create (Chapter 16)."
