The Fool

Canada

Good Morning,

My name is the fool. The purpose of this blog is to bring you thoughts, wisdom, and and advise on how to live foolishly.

The name “the fool” comes from two sources. The first is the economic saying “the greater fool”. The greater fool refers to the idea of purchasing an economic asset at a price you believe is higher than it’s worth. Yet you still bought it. Why? Because you believe there is a greater fool out there who will pay an even higher price for it. This is the basis for many “investments” such as real estate and gold. The fool (i.e. me) avoids these types of markets as they are zero sum games with winners and losers.

The second source is William Shakespeare. The famous playwright has more than 20 different characters who are characterized in some was as a “fool”. The purpose of the fool in these plays is often comedic, but they are also a source of wisdom. The fool is never a central character, but he looks at the situation from a different point of view. He often provides wisdom and caution to the true actors in the scene.
