Michael Patrick McCarty
Michael Patrick McCarty earned a B.S. Degree in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University. He has worked in both the public and private sectors in a variety of capacities relating to fisheries and wildlife biology, water and environmental quality, and outdoor recreation. A lifelong archer and outdoorsman, he has hunted and fished throughout the United States and North America. A used and rare book dealer for more than 20 years, he offers a catalog of fine titles in the fields of natural history, angling, hunting and the shooting sports, farming, and agriculture.
"I have a passion for old books, slow food, pigeons, the pursuit of bugling elk, fish and game cookery, heritage poultry breeds, personal freedom, and the Rocky Mountains, to name just a few, and not necessarily in that order. I consider the White River National Forest of Western Colorado as part of my backyard".
Mike writes about an assortment of outdoor and food related topics. "I am particularly interested in the nexus between one's desire to provide his or her own food, which almost immediately confronts a withering array of local, state, and federal laws and regulations, and how they all relate to the cornerstone issues of personal freedom and liberty. For me, it's where the rubber meets the road".
Seraina Wood McCarty is a gifted musician, singer, and songwriter. Wife, mother, friend, lover of babies, people, and clear mountain streams, her heartfelt lyrics and wonderful voice truly inspire. Her passions include organic gardening, natural health and raw food preparation, worms and compost, flowers, family, and song.
Together they steward a small acreage they have named Peach Valley Heritage Farms. It's a "work in progress" for sure, but a little piece of heaven in the Rockies, just the same.

...to celebrate the joys of home-grown food, cooking and cheffery, family & friends, community, gardening, animal husbandry, land stewardship, hunting & fishing, outside living, & all aspects of self-sufficiency & personal independence. We wish to "provide" as much as we can from our "backyard", and encourage you to do the same. It's a way of life, & a state of mind. We believe the world can change for the better, and we would like to help, one meal, and one backyard, at a time...
