While trying to extend my college experience for a few extra years, I managed to earn my Professional Athlete merit badge in the NFL as a guard for the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets.

After my brief stint in the NFL came to an end, I discovered that I had the perfect combination of mild head trauma and fluency in Ray Lewis pre-game speeches to enter the world of high tech software.

After pimping enterprise software at nearly every exit off the 101, I hit cubicle exit velocity which resulted in a succession of epic failures at several high profile start ups, most of which involved digital music in some way.

In 2006 I launched North Venture Partners a.k.a. North with David Brody where we incubated a bunch of cool ventures and brands and got really good at making other people money.

In 2010 I earned my official Gritty Entrepreneur merit badge by leading NorthSocial from a bootstrapped idea into an eight figure annual run rate business with over 30,000 paying customers and one of those exciting exits you read about on Techcrunch.

While I was never destined to be in the NFL Hall of Fame, I was recently named one of the Inc. Magazine Top 10 NFL Entrepreneurs which would have made my Jewish grandmother far more proud.

Right now I'm probably in my secret lair plotting and scheming to take over the world... or playing middle aged men's league hockey. (sometimes both at the same time).

* I was never actually Boy Scout or involved in scouting at all.
