Bob Thomas returned to WIVK in 2011! Bob previously spent 20 years at WIVK on-air & in sales and had the highest-rated midday radio show in America for over 16 years. He also co-hosted the popular Ed and Bob Show. Bob's voice is a staple on many commercials and he narrates the Knoxville Nativity Pageant each year.

He owned the Knoxville Cherokees hockey team, one of the original teams of the East Coast Hockey League. Serving as the ECHL Expansion Committee Chairman for 5 years.

In the 70s, he brought back the Knoxville Christmas Parade and served as the chairman of the parade for 16 years. Bob served four years as one of Knox County's At-Large Commissioners representing all 526 square miles of Knox County before running for Mayor. He is on the Metro Drug Coalition Board, Dogwood Arts Festival Board, American Cancer Society Board, Young-Williams Animal Center Board, Arts & Culture Alliance Board and the Tennessee Valley Fair Board having previously served on the Knox County Pension & Retirement Board, Chairman of the Knox County Disability Committee, Chairman of the Knox County Cable TV Committee, Knox County Development Corp Board, Knox County Parks & Recreation Board, Thompson-Boling Arena Use Committee and the Knox County Community Television Board. He served for 5 years on the Board of the Cerebral Palsy Center for Handicapped Adults serving as their President for two years.

Bob spent 15 years in Los Angeles writing, producing and starring in commercials, TV shows and films. One of the highlights, he was Slammin’ Sammy Stands in the hit film, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. As a TV writer he wrote one of the most popular episodes of the huge hit, LIZZIE McGUIRE.

He is a previous winner of the City of Knoxville Volunteer of the Year Award.
