The Coffee Effect
Bay Area, California
The sound of ceramic on wood. Then three pleasant clinks of metal. A sip. Ahh.
Years have passed looking through a child's eyes at my parents completing their morning routine with the ever presence of coffee, the drink of adults. Without fail, the familiar scent floated through the home every morning as the bubbling from the pot signaled the beginning of every day. And with every morning, I wished to join my perfectly composed parents and also the rest of the bustling world with my adoption of this infamous drink. I knew that when consumed, it implied that that day, something must be accomplished. I realized that once you looked past the sharp bitterness of the drink, with self-motivation and coffee, anything could be done. Excuse you, Adderall, you can go ahead and take the backseat.
N.B. Not early on, of course. One morning when I was 5, in the days of imagination and pretend, I looked longingly over at the hot chocolate looking liquid next to my dad's plate.
"You won't like it."
"Try me."
He handed me the warm mug, and I took a small sip.
With chagrin, I pursed my lips, mumbled an "It's okay," and quickly set the coffee back on the placemat while my dad grinned mischievously. So the craze didn't sink in until my sophomore year, as my first AP class, AP European History, claimed my life.
Running through the monotonous, unrelenting routine routine of the high school day, coffee provided the energy needed to survive the entire night of homework...however I knew that there must be an easier way to attain this drink. Enter Coffee Club Cafe of JPII High School.
The entire culture of coffee started to interest me as well, because it provided a place for like minded individuals to gather or a place of asylum. Coffee shops, I noticed, exhibited a composed, yet busy atmosphere.
Quite honestly, I’m not certain what will be uploaded onto this blog. Perhaps information about coffee learned while developing into the coffee version of a sommelier, reviews of cafes, dreams of a large Coffee Club Cafe…we’ll see~ But my prayer is that in a few years, this nonexistent blog will be a worthy website for coffee aficionados of all levels to peruse. Andjust maybe, the world will bond via love of this wonderful drink~
