Cultural strategist Darren Gold brings together all the talents of a merchant, retail programmer, curator, and trend expert.
Darren founded Alpha, LA’s first go-to emporium for men, with a chicly curated offering of gifts, gadgets and garb. The store was also one of the first lifestyle boutiques to penetrate design-heavy Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, paving the way for future retailers and establishing this area as an international fashion destination. Known for his original style, as well as his knack for buying, merchandising, and curating unique, hard-to-find items, Darren has taken the Alpha concept on the road creating successful pop-ups in trendsetting enclaves including Palm Springs, DTLA, West Third Street, and Manhattan Beach.
Currently, Darren is sought after for his expertise as a retail, fashion and merchandising consultant, with a diverse list of clients that includes, Brookfield Properties, The Malibu Pier, Intel, Lincoln, and Conde Nast. Darren has been pivotal in the launch of numerous brands such as Band of Outsiders, VuDu, Baxter of California, Gregory Siff, Splendid Mills, Adidas Silver, and Apt2B.
Darren was recently named the Chair of the Advisory Board of West Hollywood Magazine, and also serves as the Chairman of the Board of the West Hollywood Design District, a business improvement district of high-end boutiques, galleries and showrooms. Darren has served on the Board of Directors of The Coalition of Los Angeles Designers (CLAD) and The Hollywood Hills WestNeighborhood Council. As President of CLAD, Darren was responsiblefor scouting the newest LA design talent, producing fashion shows andPR events for the group. He was also responsible for spearheading the group’s mission to share resources and increase awareness of LA based Design.
Darren has been featured in Vanity Fair, GQ, DNR, Angeleno, Distinction, Los Angeles, LA Direct, the Hollywood Reporter, and on the TV GuideChannel. Women's Wear Daily (WWD) named him as one of five "players"in the LA fashion scene.
