Dendritic cell therapy is a new treatment to assist cancer patients who have had surgery or radiation therapy and have developed inflammatory diseases from the action of these treatments. The dendritic cell therapy has shown very good results at identifying leukemia or cancerous non-Hodgkins lymphoma. The new dendritic cell therapy has resulted in a development of vaccines that can be injected into the blood stream. These vaccines create a harmless infection with dendritic cells that kills them and prevents the production of cancer cells from their roots. In order for this type of dendritic cell therapy to become a successful treatment, more clinical trials are needed to identify more patients who may benefit from the treatment. In addition to clinical trials, there will also need to be further studies testing whether these vaccines are safe and efficient for use with various types of diseases.
