The DigiTour

“The Digitour,” a large-scale music tour featuring some of the biggest self-made YouTube stars, is heading back on the road for Spring 2012! Last year’s successful beginning broke new ground and made an indelible mark in the entertainment industry by changing the traditional concert platform and helped launch solid brands that have the ability to bridge the gap between web and the mainstream. DigiTour founders and producers Meridith Valiando, Chris Rojas, and Sarah Penna say “We have become the launching pad for self-made YouTube stars to take their shows on the road—we’ve created an institution to celebrate these web superstars annually and give their fanatic subscribers an opportunity to see their favorite YouTube stars live.” In a review of last year’s show, leading provider of online media and global technology Gigaom.com noted: “For artists best known for playing music by themselves for a web audience, they were all adept live performers who know how to work a crowd, It was a darn good concert…” Dallas Morning News reporter commented, “A pop-culture phenomenon made a full-circle voyage Friday night at the House of Blues: YouTube’s DigiTour came to town.” Additionally, The Business Insider stated, “The first show of the YouTube-sponsored DigiTour offered solid proof that musical talent translates from a web cam to a live venue.”
