Jonathan & Amber King

Memphis, Tn, Usa

Our Story

We each grew up in small communities in the farmlands of Illinois and migrated to the University of Illinois and Illinois State, respectively, where we found ourselves in strong campus churches, which were committed to Jesus Christ and the mission of making and equipping His disciples to be sent out into the world.

We met in the summer of 2005 in the Rocky Mountains as members of Great Commission Ministry's Leadership Training program. Jonathan fell for Amber and in two years, we were married and living in Champaign, IL. No journey with God is ever linear; for one year, we lived and worked in innercity Memphis, TN with Service Over Self, Binghampton Development Corporation and Christ Community Ministries.

We returned to CU in 2010, in order that we might recommit ourselves to the labor of campus ministry. Also, we made a goal for Amber to obtain a Masters in Urban & Regional Planning from UIUC and for Jonathan to pursue graduate studies at Urbana Theological Seminary. Along the way, we found ourselves pregnant with our now daughter, Annamarie Josephine, who has been true to her name: a grace from God.

That chapter in campus ministry came to a bittersweet close in the spring of 2014 and we returned to Memphis, TN with fresh eyes for our new home and mission.
