The Living Laboratory is 15 minutes from Downtown Dallas and 30 minutes from Fort Worth. Living on the 2+ acres surrounding the house are big owls, hawks, squirrels, song birds and other wild creatures. In the house are nine beds divided between three bedrooms, a large on-suite bedroom and two bedrooms with a Jack-and-Jill bathroom between them. All the bedrooms have a big window with a view of the woods. In the middle of the house is the living room. Couches are centered around a fireplace with a wood-burning oven.
The Living Lab is barely visible from the street. The driveway winds around big cedar trees up into the back-door and yard area, with room for 4-6 cars. A large fire pit is sunken into the center of the back yard. A walking trail winds through the woods down to the creek. Big cedars, and giant oaks and walnut trees are among the trees in the forest. A twist along the creek leads into a bamboo forest, more than a half acre of this huge oriental grass is growing under the big trees. The trail ends at the front porch, a covered area with couches and a view into the woods.
Plans for the Living Laboratory include the participation of businesses, schools, innovators and people interested in sustainable living and building. With upgrades and experiments, innovators and students can transform the house and surrounding land into a showcase of efficient building innovations, water filtration, soil building techniques and agricultural methods that improve the environment.
The Living Laboratory invites your project to participate by utilizing this space as it is, or transforming rooms and woodlands into a setting for your project. Please share this with potential supporters of the Living Laboratory and consider the laboratory as a location and accommodation during your next visit to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Thank you for your time. Come visit y'all.
