Laura & Chris
Nicholasville, KY
We are Chris and Laura Lough. Together, we run a small family farm in Kentucky called Square Peg Farm. We raise Shetland Sheep, Nubian and Pygora Goats, Llamas and chickens with a pet pig thrown in for fun. We keep vegetable, flower and herb gardens and enjoy experimenting with different ways to cook and preserve the gleanings from our gardens. We also make cheese and other dairy products from our Nubian Goats' milk.
Laura co-runs The Unique Sheep, a handdyed yarn company, as her "day job". She and her partner Kelly hand dye each skein and collaborate with indie designers to come up with new colorways and patterns.
Chris's current passion is for bourbon and he and his friend Darren host a Bourbon Podcast and Blog. As scientists they like to delve into the details of Bourbon, from the chemistry of its unique taste and smell to the role it has played in America's history to the intricacies of today's bourbon market.
Chris supports his bourbon habit by cutting up dead people and playing with their blood. (i.e. he is a medical pathologist).
