Mission Statement 100 years ww1red People Power Commemoration project

This idea is a simple one. I extend an open invitation to ALL the people living in ALL the countries involved in World War 1 to show their respect and commemoration by the simple action of placing a red light in their windows between the hours of 8pm and midnight on 4 August 2014. This is also extended to owners of buildings and structures to be lit in red for the same period.

I hope this project will transcend race, creed, language, national or political affiliation; It is based on our mutual respect for people. It will hopefully have influences on modern history, education and is, in effect, a socially interactive enterprise, achieved in part by the technologies of the World Wide Web and the positive attributes of Social Networking.

My hope is that ww1red will achieve a global tribute involving millions of people in a simple common action; to pay respect to those who died or suffered as a result of the Great War.
