SIFE UNNC: Thenea Project

The Thenea project is a SIFE ran organisation at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China.

The fresh flowers is kind of processed flowers which can be long conserved. The project team started from researching flower market. The team integrated the chain of industry, and developed a new domestic market, which helps farmers in Yunnan seek more opportunities. This project is based on traditional agriculture. We seek for innovation and new possibilities to increase famers’ incomes. Besides, by increasing deep processing, enlarging added value and providing new unemployed women and impoverished undergraduate with jobs, we create more economic opportunities and economic values for the community.

Thenea project team acquires fresh flowers as raw material from Yunnan, and collaborate with some private factories, which are confronting difficulties in the market competition. The team sought manufacturer factory in Yiwu, where those fresh flowers can be re-produced and turn into a kind of delicate crystal handcraft. In order to emphasize the fresh flowers' “True” concept, Thenea project team plans to expand the advertising in public. With the cooperation between the team and communities and other universities, the team can increase its sales channel and profits by campus sales and festival bazaar. Meanwhile, the team expects to promote this kind of flower to wedding, fashion design, photography and furniture design. With the profit generated from actions above, the team will be able to run a larger market and help more target people.
