The Novelist

Quarterly Mag in San Francisco, California

The Novelist is a mag of arts and writing related to our technological present. We are interested in essays, fiction, poetry, photography and art that melds traditional approaches with novel themes. For example, our first issue will feature code generated art, photography of computer infrastructure and poetry about the language of texting. The idea is to be a cultural publication aesthetically inspired by Silicon Valley.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - Due Feb. 15

Essays, poem or short stories — We are currently accepting written content of all genres that engage with how we relate to the future, to novelty and to life in Silicon Valley. In addition to poetry/short fiction, we also accept pieces of cultural criticism and personal essays that deal with themes of technology. Email submission or pitch to [email protected]. We will respond within 3 days.

Digital art and photography — We are particularly interested in art that incorporates technology tools in its production such as coding or electronics. Send us a link to your work/portfolio or samples to [email protected]. We will respond within 3 days.

If you are interested in working with us on assigned tasks — we are currently seeking writers (to conduct interviews and write assigned blurbs/articles). Email [email protected] with a brief description of your writing background. We are a couple of hip young people and lots of fun to work with, we promise!
