Throughout my childhood and up to now I have had the sport of basketball in my life. Since I was first able to shoot as a toddler I would play on the mini hoop plastic goal with the tiny inflatable ball that my mom had bought me. This is when I felt that I had fallen in love with the game.
My parents, seeing this, realized that I enjoyed the sport and signed me up for local basketball leagues as a kid. Through these games and leagues I met many of my lifelong friends that I am still in touch with today.
I continued to play in middle school where we won our district championship which was a big deal for everyone a part of the team. I feel that this point in my career is when basketball taught me a lot of lessons such as the work that you put into something is what you get out of it at the end.
After middle school I played high school basketball at my high school and played with some very good players. Although, my sophomore season I tore my ACL and meniscus during a game which set me back a lot. I believe that this injury made me grow as a person because during the time that I was out I had to work in rehab every day and continued to realize how when you work hard for something you get it which happened when I was able to come back and play my senior season. The hard work lesson I learned from playing basketball in my life translated to other things such as school and hopefully will translate to my career in the future.
