Jaleesa Willis

Renova, Mississippi

Hello and welcome to my small piece of this huge world. I am a daughter, sister, friend, aunt, niece, and student. I wear many hats but the one I am most proud of right now is the one I am creating for the betterment of myself and others like me. On March 23, 2006, at age 16, I became a T11 incomplete paraplegic. For the next 7 years I lived like many others with an injury that tramatic would. I wanted to be normal so I lived as those around me lived, which needless to say was very detrimental to my health.

Over the last year with urging from family, friends, and mentors, I began to discover just what it was I wanted to become. Instead of ignoring and resenting my injury, I have embraced myself as I am, and I am MUCH healthier for it. I have started to see my chair just as one would see shoes or a purse, or a wallet. It's just another part of my whole package. Come along with me on my journey of weight loss, muscle building, creating, living, loving, and growing, I'll never know everything I need to about keeping myself healthy, but im learning and as I learn I will share it openly with you! Welcome, Welcome, Welcome.
